Ecological functions of secondary forests and their role in stream conservation in agricultural landscapes of the Brazilian Amazon
The objective of this proposal is to evaluate the role of secondary forests in providing important ecological functions for the structure and functioning of stream ecosystems, such as supply of trunks (important for the formation of habitats and conservation of biodiversity) and maintenance of levels of decomposition. foliar (important for the maintenance of heterotrophic metabolism in streams). For this, different sets of data collected in two regions of the Brazilian Amazon will be used. From the results obtained, it is expected to obtain important new information for the management of riparian forests in agricultural landscapes.
